HOPS telecommunications network provides all types of communications in support of power system operation and other HOPS functions in the electricity market in Croatia. The main telecommunications network of HOPS is based on fiber optic conductors embedded in ground wires of high voltage lines, microwave links and underground optic and copper cables using state-of-the art technology (DWDM, SDH, IP,…).
Several special-purpose communication networks necessary for HOPS operations are established on the main telecommunications network:
- Switched telephone network
- System control communication network,
- Load-frequency control communication network,
- Transmission line protection communication network,
- Business communication network,
- Voice radial radio communication network and
- Monitoring and control communication network of main telecommunications network
